What can you see in Belogradchik?
Belogradchik is a small jewel, located among the majestic panoramas of the Belogradchik rocks. The city and its surroundings are one of the few places in the world where, in a relatively small area, you will find traces of humanity’s colorful past – from Europe’s oldest human beings in the Kozarnika cave, through all historical eras, to the present day. Here you will learn about the culture of the prehistoric Magura Cave Artists who have sent a message over the millennia about their beliefs and lives. Scattered among the rocks, valleys and mountain heights are the remains of sanctuaries, temples, fortresses, buildings from the Thracian and Roman eras, as well as the fully preserved and restored medieval Belogradchik fortress. But above all the wonderful monuments of human civilization, shines the creation of nature – the Belogradchik rocks with their fantastic rock formations, the caves with their mysterious beauty, the picturesque mountain ridges and river valleys immersed in magnificent greenery.
